Charles Parchment has been appointed Cayman’s acting representative in Britain, after the former head of the Cayman Islands Government Office UK, André Ebanks, resigned, reportedly to run as a candidate in the April general election.
Parchment has worked at the Cayman Islands Government Office for more than 15 years, and this is his fourth time as acting representative. Immediately prior to his latest appointment, he was the office’s deputy representative.
Phillippa Knights, who has worked at the office since May 2015, has been appointed acting deputy representative.
Ebanks had headed the office since September 2019. He returned to Cayman for the holiday period last year and has remained here.
The CIGO-UK office has been working remotely since March 2020, amid the COVID-19 crisis.
The office announced the restructuring of the UK branch in its latest newsletter, which stated, “The office remains fully operational and we anticipate no disruption to our work or service.”
