One man was left nursing minor injuries to his hand following a scuffle during an attempted robbery at knifepoint in the early hours of Thursday morning by Seven Mile Beach, police said.
The incident happened shortly before 1:40am.
Police, in a brief statement, said three men were seated near the parking lot at the Seven Mile Public Beach when a man and woman, both dressed in black and wearing black masks, exited a vehicle nearby and approached them. One brandished a knife and demanded cash, police said.
A brief struggle ensued, during which one of the three men received minor injuries to his hand.
The would-be robbers returned to their vehicle and drove off.
Nothing was stolen, police said.
Emergency services attended the location and administered first aid to the injured man.
The vehicle they were driving in is believed to be a Honda Fit or similar vehicle.
