The latest COVID-19 statistics show that, of 991 PCR tests taken on Thursday, there were a total of 139 new positive cases recorded, according to Chief Medical Officer Dr. John Lee.

Of those, 138 were community transmission cases, and one involved a traveller.

As of Friday morning, 25 COVID-19 patients remained hospitalised in Cayman, two fewer than the day before.

The latest test results bring the number of active cases of COVID-19 to 4,184. The total number of cases recorded since the start of the pandemic is 6,738.

By Friday morning, 4,607 people were in quarantine either in government isolation facilities or at home.

According to the Public Health Department, as of 8am Friday, there had been 1,762 total positive lateral flow tests since the introduction of the lateral flow test programme. These are included in the total positive numbers above.

As of Friday morning, in the Sister Islands, there were 17 active COVID-19 cases, with one new case recorded in the previous 24 hours. The Sister Islands has had 116 cases, of which 98 have recovered. Of those cases, 59 were fully vaccinated, six were partially vaccinated, and 51 were unvaccinated.

Vaccinations reach 82%

So far, 123,443 COVID-19 vaccinations have been administered in Cayman.

Of these, 57,952 (82% of the estimated 71,106 population) have had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 55,829 people (79%) have completed the two-dose course.

Additionally, 10,096 people (representing 14% of the total population) have received a booster dose.
