A vessel carrying five Cuban migrants arrived in East End Friday afternoon, Cayman Islands Customs and Border Control Service confirmed.
According to a brief statement issued by CBC on Friday evening, the migrants have been placed in mandatory quarantine in a government facility, in line with Cayman’s COVID-19 protocols.
CBC said it was “working with the necessary partners and the migrants will be managed in accordance with the established COVID-19 protocols and processing procedures”.
Since the pandemic began, Cuba has recorded 961,884 cases of COVID-19, with a death toll of 8,299. The island nation has a vaccination rate of 80.5%, according to ourworldindata.com.
