If you’re looking for a special gift for that dedicated philatelist in your life, look no further than the Cayman Islands Postal Service’s final stamp issue for 2021, which features Prince Philip and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.

The release also features the traditional Cayman Christmas stamp.

According to a Postal Service announcement last week, the latest offering is extra special since printing and shipping delays brought the stamps to Cayman weeks after the target release dates of October and November.

“The Christmas season is always a special time for us at CI Postal Service. So, I am delighted that we have been able to release another Christmas issue and the Royal Family stamp issues are always popular in philatelic circles,” Postmaster General Sheena Glasgow said in announcing the new stamps.

“Unfortunately, conditions beyond our control – and indeed of our suppliers as well – delayed the release of these new issues. Nevertheless, better late than never and we are pleased we could offer them in time for increased Christmas season mail.”

The First Day Cover (FDC) for the Prince Philip issue is the only one of the three currently available as the FDCs for the other two issues are still awaited.

All three stamp issues will be available for purchase at all Cayman Islands Post Offices.

The three stamp issues that were set to be published during the last quarter were: celebrating Her Majesty The Queen’s 95th birthday, remembering His Royal Highness Prince Philip, and commemorating Christmas 2021.

Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh passed away in April at the age of 99.

With the ink now dry on the last stamps for 2021, Glasgow said her team is already moving on with their 2022 editions.

“Development work on our 2022 stamp issues is already underway so the Postal Service will continue to release stamp issues going into the future, as we have done in the past,” she added.
