Cayman Olympian Shalysa Wray opened her collegiate indoor season, claiming four gold medals for her school, Kansas State University.
“It just goes to show that I’m much stronger than I was last year and in previous years,” Wray told the Cayman Compass. “I’m really just trusting the process and I’ve been doing great so far in training and competition.”
Wray, 22, first competed at the Kansas State Winter Invitational, back in December where she contributed to victory in the 4×400 relay in a time of 3:47.20.
She then ran at the KU/KSU/WSU Triangular on 14 Jan. She earned gold and a new personal best in the 60 metres with a time of 7.44. Wray ran another first place on the day, this time in the 200m, clocking 24.17.
Her final gold came at the KSU DeLoss Dodds Invitational and Combined Events on 21-22 Jan, where she ran the 300m in 38.21 seconds.
Wray added, “I’m just taking things one race at a time and I’m really excited and looking forward to the rest of the indoor season and outdoors.”
Wray is scheduled to compete at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Nebraska on Friday, 4 Feb.
