Police have arrested a 57-year-old Bodden Town man in connection with an alleged assault on a woman at Spotts Beach on Monday.
In a brief statement to the Cayman Compass Friday morning, police confirmed the man was arrested around 3pm on Thursday.
He was arrested for causing fear and provocation of violence and common assault, in relation to an incident that occurred at Spotts Beach on Monday, 21 March, police said.
The man has since been released on bail, as investigations continue.
When reached for comment on the arrest, alleged assault victim Jolene Nelson-Henry said, “I’m glad he’s finally been arrested and [is facing charges]”, adding she hopes to “see our legal system hold him accountable”.
In an exclusive interview with the Compass this week she earlier shared her experience and details of the encounter that left her and her friends terrified.
She said that she and her two friends were at the beach when they were intimidated and attacked.
She also released video footage of the alleged incident.
