A 42-year-old man remains in police custody after being arrested in connection with a break-in at a West Bay house on Monday morning.
Police said that the West Bay man, who fled when officers attempted to speak to him hours after the break-in, was arrested on suspicion of burglary, in addition to drug offences.
The incident in question happened about 3:15am on Monday, 25 April, police said.
Officers responded to a report of a burglary at a residence on Powery Road, West Bay, where it had been reported that an occupant confronted a man who had entered. the premises.
Police said the man then fled on foot to the rear of the premises.
Several items were subsequently discovered missing from the residence, some of which were later found outside.
Later the same day, police went to an address on Selkirk Drive in George Town to speak to a man there but he fled from the officers, leaving behind a bag.
The bag was searched and found to contain items taken during the burglary, which were subsequently identified by the victims.
Police said efforts continued to locate the man who fled.
A search at a location on Caribbean Lane, West Bay was also conducted.
“Although no further stolen property was recovered, a man at the location, age 42 of West Bay, who fit the description of the suspect in the burglary, was arrested on suspicion of burglary in relation to the incident,” police stated.
The incident remains under investigation.
