The Grand Cayman DG’s 5K Challenge took place on Sunday, with almost 800 participants donning their blue event shirt, lacing up their trainers and clocking in their race times.
This was the first time the race has been held since 2019, after the pandemic forced the fundraiser to postpone in 2020.
According to the official results, the 5K was won by Esmond Brown in 17:28.9, with Jack Mackenzie taking second place and Abraham Whittaker coming in third. Olivia Shanks took victory for the women in 20:22.9.
The Cayman Islands Cancer Society, MS Foundation of the Cayman Islands and the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Association of the Cayman Islands were the three charities selected to receive proceeds raised by the event, which saw contests take place on Cayman Brac and Little Cayman earlier in the year.
