No charges filed 19 months after fatal collision

Police say no charges have been filed in relation to a motorcycle accident that claimed the life of Chuck Elvis Ebanks, nearly two years ago.

Ebanks, 53, of West Bay, was working as a member of a post-Tropical Storm Eta clean-up team when he was struck shortly after 7:20pm on Saturday, 7 Nov., 2020 along Powell Smith Drive in West Bay.

The rider, a then-26-year-old West Bay man, was taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital where he was treated for injuries sustained during the accident, and later released. His identity has not been released by the police.

Ebanks was also taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

A few days later, the rider of the motorcycle was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, taking a conveyance without authority, driving without being qualified, and other traffic offences.
