Police are investigating a serious assault in West Bay, after a man was injured by a burglar with a machete.
According to information released by the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service, at around 2:40am on Thursday, a man broke into a home on Birch Tree Hill Road in West Bay.
He attacked one of the occupants of the house with a machete and fled the scene.
Police confirmed that the “suspect and the occupants are known to each other”.
The victim received serious injuries to his arm and foot. He was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital for treatment, and remains in hospital.
