Fans of live comedy should book their tickets now for the Grand Comedy Tour, happening in the Marriott Ballroom on 1 Oct.
International stand-up stars Jesus Trejo, Honest John and Joe Clair will be taking to the stage with jokes aplenty in their repertoires, making it a lighthearted evening for all who attend.
There is a VIP reception at 7pm with the show starting at 8pm. It should be a great night out, and will bring some welcome laughs.
Jesus Trejo
Jesus Trejo is one of the fastest rising names in the stand-up comedy scene. Born and raised in Long Beach, Trejo’s first hour stand-up special ‘Stay at Home Son’ for Showtime, aired summer of 2020. He can be seen in the recurring role of Mr. Trujillo on the Netflix series ‘Mr. Iglesias’, and in roles on ‘Alone Together’ (Freeform) and ‘Teachers’ (TV Land), as well as recently on ‘Gentefied’ (Netflix).
Trejo was named a Variety Top 10 Comic to watch at JFL in 2017, and is a paid regular at the Comedy Store in Los Angeles.
Honest John
In June of 1987, John Basinger was working as a nurse and heading into a predictable middle-aged existence. Perhaps it was a mid-life crisis that caused him to take the name Honest John and start running around Los Angeles telling jokes.
“I just went anywhere I could get on stage,” he recalled. “Clubs, coffeehouses, bars, restaurants, anywhere I could get up. After a while I was like a fanatic, I just couldn’t do it enough. I knew that this is what I was meant to do.”
Soon, Honest John became a fixture on the black circuit in the Los Angeles area. “People would come up to me on the street and ask where I was going to perform next. It blew my mind,” he said.
Triumphant appearances on BET’s ‘Comicview’, HBO’s ‘Def Comedy Jam’, and ‘Showtime at the Apollo’ introduced him to fans all across the country, leading to appearances at clubs and theaters nationwide and a two year run on the Def Comedy Jam tour. He has guest-starred on ‘The Jamie Foxx Show’, ‘The Lyricist Lounge Show’, and ‘Showtime in Harlem’.
Joe Clair
Joe Clair is a multifaceted entertainer with a career spanning two decades.
He got his start on HBO’s famed ‘Def Comedy Jam’, before gaining national notoriety as host of BET’s famed show ‘Rap City’, where he introduced the world to hip-hop and rap super-stars. He is most notably known as the last person to interview hip-hop icon Notorious B.I.G.
From 2000 through 2004, Clair hosted ‘Madd Sports’, where he interviewed sports greats ranging from Magic Johnson, Charles Barkley, Shaq and Kobe. In 2007, Joe hosted the BET, ‘Take the Cake’, a nightly game show seen by millions.
He’s had multiple appearances on ‘Def Comedy Jam’ (HBO), ‘Comic Groove’ (Comedy Central), ‘Showtime at the Apollo’ (NBC), ‘Martin Lawrence presents: 1st Amendment Stand-Up’ (STARZ) and ‘Comic View’ (BET).
Tickets for Grand Comedy Tour can be bought online, with general admission early bird prices at $45 each, and VIP at $75, which includes a meet-and-greet opportunity, priority seating, and a complimentary cocktail with happy hour nibbles.
