Pro jet ski rider Matthew Panton will be representing the Cayman Islands at the P1 AquaX World Championships next month at Atlantis in the Bahamas.
Panton, qualified for the event earlier this month after earning the highest score during the 2022 three series of the P1 Aquax Cayman Islands National Tour.
“It feels really good,” Panton told the Cayman Compass, following the final race of the national tour, which was held on Seven Mile Public Beach on 2 Oct.
The two-time national champion says he has a chance of medalling during the international P1 race, scheduled to take place 4-6 Nov.
“I know I am going to do the best that I can,” he said. “In terms of what I will get out of it, there is a lot of ifs in that.”

He added, “I’m looking to go over there and get good points, valuable points. I have almost won a P1 race already, so I don’t see why I can’t do it again. But I definitely… feel that I can hit the podium.”
The Cayman Islands Watercraft Association also hopes to send amateur rider Cline Glidden III to the championships.
