Former National Housing Development Trust chairman Geoffry Ebanks has denied charges in relation to dozens of truckloads of fill that disappeared under his watch during a government project earlier this year.

Appearing before the Grand Court on Friday, 25 Nov., Ebanks, 45, entered not guilty pleas to a single charge of breach of trust and a charge of conflict of interest.

The charges stem from a road project in North Side. According to the indictment, between 26 Jan. and 24 Feb., Ebanks, who was working in the capacity of a civil servant, failed to declare a conflict of interest, and wilfully redirected 72 truckloads of fill material to an address on Otis Road, and to Willie’s Farm.

A two-week trial has been tentatively set for  February 2023, and Ebanks was released on bail.

He was charged with the offences on 28 Oct., two days after his resignation as NHDT chair.

He was under investigation following allegations earlier this year that, using agency resources, fill material from a NHDT housing project site in North Side was illegally removed and delivered to a parcel of land connected to his relatives.
