Kirk Freeport gives US$50,000 to 5 charities for 50th anniversary

In honour of Kirk Freeport’s 50th anniversary, the founding Kirkconnell family donated a total of US$50,000 to five charities. Saying the charities reflected the values the company was founded on, the recipients were Cayman Islands Sailing Club, Cayman Islands Seafarers Association, Cayman Islands YMCA, Inspire Cayman’s ‘Build your Future Cayman’ and the National Gallery.
“We’re honoured to have these organisations as pillars of the community to help to preserve Cayman’s heritage and build a legacy for the future by supporting young Caymanians,” said Chris Kirkconnell, vice president of Kirk Freeport, in a press release. “In commemoration of our 50-year anniversary, our philanthropic efforts recognise organisations that share the values that helped us grow into the largest independent, duty- free enterprise in the Caribbean.”
Each of the five organisations received US$10,000 to help support their missions.
In addition to providing charitable contributions, the retailer of duty-free jewellery, watches, fragrances, leather, crystal and china, is offering residents-only giveaways and shopping perks for the community, which began at the start of the year and end 31 Dec. 2022.
New leadership at Artex Cayman

Sadlier has more than 15 years of financial services experience predominantly in reinsurance and regulation. Prior to joining Artex, Sadlier worked with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority as head of the Onsite Inspections and formerly as a reinsurance specialist. In her new role, Sadlier is responsible for implementing strategies across key areas of the business including talent, operations, governance, risk, compliance and business development.
“Over recent years Artex has grown quickly in Cayman, and so have third party re/insurers, so it’s imperative that we have the right type of leadership as we look to the future,” said Adrian Lynch, executive vice president, Artex North America.
“As we see the role of the captive manager evolve beyond its traditional service model, Suzanne‘s expertise will drive our continued client-centric focus and the Artex growth trajectory in Cayman.”

Artex also appointed Silvanous Inyangala as director of Risk & Compliance (Cayman) and regional lead, Artex.
Prior to joining Artex, Inyangala was chief analyst in the Insurance Supervision Division of CIMA where he was responsible for risk assessment, financial analysis, industry engagement and conducting inspections for the domestic and international insurance industry licensed in the Cayman Islands. He has specialised expertise in regulatory compliance, enterprise risk management, corporate governance, financial accounting and financial management of insurance entities.
In his new role, Inyangala will be the designated head of compliance and the MLRO/AMLCO for Artex, overseeing the organisations own requirements in Cayman and ensuring compliance for the growing portfolio of clients it serves. He will work closely with local and international teams within Artex, but will work out of Cayman.
