Police have confirmed that a 20-year-old woman accused of murdering a Jones Town, Kingston man was deported from Cayman on Thursday.
The RCIPS, in a short statement to the Cayman Compass on Sunday about the incident, confirmed that the woman, Ashley Williams, a resident of Denham Town, was arrested here and later deported.
Williams had been granted a work permit prior to her arrival in Cayman, police said.
“Once the information on her wanted status was received from the Jamaican authorities, the work permit was immediately revoked,” the RCIPS said.
The woman was then taken into custody.
Police said she was “subsequently escorted back to Jamaica by RCIPS officers on Thursday, where she was handed over to the Jamaican authorities”.
She has since been charged with the murder of 47-year-old David Rowe, of Septimus Street, Jones Town, Radio Jamaica has reported.
A second suspect, 22-year-old Jovanie Thompson, has also been charged in the case, the local news outlet added.
According to Radio Jamaica News, on 30 Nov., last year, Rowe was at his house on Septimus Street when he was accosted by Thompson and his girlfriend Williams.
“During a dispute, it is alleged that the accused woman pulled a knife and stabbed Mr. Rowe several times. Mr. Thompson then pulled an illegal gun and opened fire on the injured man. He was later pronounced dead at hospital,” a Radio Jamaica News report stated.
