11-year-old among latest batch of Cuban arrivals

An 11-year-old boy was among six Cubans who came ashore in North Side on Tuesday, the Cayman Islands Customs and Border Control Service confirmed.

The boy was one of two minors in the latest batch of Cuban refugees to land on Grand Cayman.

A CBC statement issued Thursday said the six people arrived in a vessel at approximately 2pm in North Side.

On the vessel were three adult males and one adult female as well as two minors, the 11-year-old and a 14-year-old female.

The group was “being processed in accordance with established CBC protocols which involves the Department of Children & Family Services in the case of the two minors,” the CBC said.
