A 43-year-old George Town man was arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm, while his alleged victim was detained by cops following a violent dispute on Thursday afternoon.
The whole scenario played out near the West Bay Police Station just after 2:30pm, according to a police statement issued Thursday evening.
Police said officers and other emergency services responded to a report of a collision on West Church Street in the vicinity of the police station, where it appeared two occupants of the vehicle were engaged in a physical altercation.
Both men sustained serious injuries.
Police said officers intervened in the altercation between the two men and the situation was defused.
Officers and Cayman Islands Fire Service emergency personnel rendered first aid, after which the men were transported to the hospital by ambulance.
The 43-year-old-man was later arrested, and has since been bailed.
The other man sustained serious injuries and was detained while he received his medical treatment.
The matter is being investigated by the police.
