Fake Compass email about new COVID variant circulating

A fake email purporting to originate from the Cayman Compass is circulating via email and social media.

This fake message, which has been circulating in Cayman, was not issued by the Cayman Compass.

The email, which uses the Compass logo, mirrors the Compass daily newsletter and invites readers to click on a link to read more information about a new variant of the COVID-19 Omicron strain.

The email and social media posts did not originate from the Cayman Compass.

Readers are warned that clicking the included links could put them and their associated electronic devices at risk.

The message is the latest in several fake emails that have been sent to recipients with candw.ky email addresses over the past two years or so, claiming to come from the Compass and spreading false information.
