Several roads will be closed on Friday and Saturday, 5 and 6 May, to keep the streets safe and clear for the Batabano carnival celebrations.
Police released details on the closures today in a press release, and advised motorists that parking along the roadway or causing obstructions in George Town is not permitted.
There will be police signs and cones to assist and guide the motoring public.
All vehicle owners found in contravention of the Traffic Act 2021 will be issued a fine.
Police also reminded party goers that they must not drink and drive, adding: “Make a travel plan for how you will get to and from events before you leave home for the night.”
And they urged people to stay safe when out socialising by remaining in a group and watching out for friends.
“At the end of the night, ensure that everyone in your group has a safe way to get home,” the press release said.
The following roads will be closed in George Town from Friday, 5 May, at 6.30pm to Saturday, 6 May, 3pm:
Seafarers Way between Goring Avenue and Fort Street.
Northbound traffic travelling towards Seafarers will be diverted onto Goring Avenue.
Southbound traffic travelling towards Seafarers will be diverted onto Fort Street.
Westbound traffic entering Seafarers Way from Shedden Road will only be permitted to turn left onto Seafarers Way.

The following roads will be closed on Saturday, 6 May, from 11am to 6pm:
West Bay Road between Lime Tree Bay Avenue and the Seven Mile Public Beach roundabout as parade floats set up on the southbound lane of West Bay Road.
Access to Public Beach, along with businesses and residences in the area will be permitted.
The parade will proceed south along West Bay Road from 1pm, continue south along North Church Street, and conclude along Seafarers Way.
Road junctions will be closed ahead of the parade as it proceeds.
As the procession passes closed junctions, these will be re-opened to afford motorists the use of the road to the rear of the procession.
Seafarers Way will then be closed between Fort Street and Goring Avenue, for the Las’ Lap event and post parade activities.
The following roads will be closed on Saturday, 6 May, from 6pm to 1am:
Seafarers Way between Goring Avenue and Fort Street.
Northbound traffic travelling towards Seafarers will be diverted onto Goring Avenue.
Southbound traffic travelling towards Seafarers will be diverted onto Fort Street.
Westbound traffic on Shedden Road will not be permitted to enter Seafarers Way.
Shedden Road will be closed to westbound traffic at Elgin Avenue. Local access will be permitted to the RBC parking lot.
