A bus driver was cut in the face when he refused to let a man armed with a knife steal from him on his West Bay route.

He was driving along Mount Pleasant Road in the vicinity of Mount Close just before 8pm on Wednesday, 3 May, when he stopped the bus to let the last two passengers off.

One of the men, who had boarded the bus on West Bay Road, held a knife to the driver and demanded cash, a police press release said.

The driver resisted and drove the bus forward before stopping abruptly, forcing the man out of the bus. Both men then fled on foot along Mount Close.

According to police, the driver received a cut to the face during the struggle. Emergency services attended the location and provided medical assistance on the scene.

The suspect who brandished the knife was short, of dark complexion and slim build. He had short dreads and was wearing a dark shirt.

The other suspect was short, also of slim build with short dreads. He was wearing a bright-coloured shirt. Both men looked to be in their early 20s.
