The Cayman Islands Football Association is calling for anyone interested in officiating football/soccer matches to attend their 2023 Referee Beginners Course in August.

The course is open to men and women between the age of 16 and 40 years old with a reasonable degree of fitness, according to a press release by CIFA.

“CIFA is looking for people interested in becoming certified referees and assistant referees to officiate in local football matches,” Alfredo Whittaker, CIFA president said in the release. “Referees perform a vital role in the global sport of football, ensuring safety, fairness, equality and enjoyment.

“With the growth in football’s popularity… the demand for officials is always increasing. Joining the ranks of a CIFA referee could be your gateway to the FIFA international panel of referees.”

The first classroom sessions are scheduled to begin on 13 Aug, at the CIFA Centre of Excellence, which will be followed by a theoretical examination on, 20 Aug.
