Police on Sunday arrested a second man on suspicion of a robbery at Scotiabank on Crewe Road earlier this month.

The 47-year-old suspect has been bailed on “strict conditions pending further investigation”, police said.

On the day of the robbery, officers arrested a 27-year-old George Town man, who was subsequently charged with robbery, attempted robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm with intent to commit robbery.

A police report at the time noted that two men, one armed with a handgun, had robbed a customer at the bank by the Grand Harbour roundabout around 11:10am on Friday, 16 June, before making off on foot.

The RCIPS said a member of the public who witnessed the robbers fleeing the bank, chased them in his vehicle to Old Crewe Road, where he intercepted one of the men. Both offenders then ran into a bush area beside the road. They were pursued by police and one of the men was apprehended and arrested.
