Mourant appoints four new partners in Cayman

Mourant, a law firm-led professional services business, has appointed four new partners to its Cayman Islands office, all of them internal promotions.

Andrew Grant, Chris Nixon, Finn Howie and Rhiannon Williams have all been promoted.

Managing partner of the Cayman Islands office, Hayden Isbister, in a statement announcing the appointments, congratulated the four new partners, saying their appointments marked a “significant step in the evolution of our Cayman office”.

“The Cayman Islands is widely recognised as one of the leading global financial services centres, and this is reflected in the continued growth of our Corporate practice, which has gone from strength to strength in recent years as we’ve established ourselves as market leaders in the region,” he said.

About the new partners

Andrew Grant

Grant specialises in private equity, corporate and finance transactions. He advises on takeovers, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, shareholders arrangements, corporate governance, consensual restructurings, fund financing, secured and unsecured financings and cross-border finance.

Williams specialises in all areas of corporate, finance and commercial work, particularly investment funds. She advises on joint venture arrangements, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, corporate governance and regulatory issues, as well as the establishment, management and restructuring of Cayman investment funds. In Legal 500 Caribbean 2023, she is named as a recommended lawyer in the area of investment funds.

Chris Nixon

Nixon specialises in all aspects of corporate and finance work, with an emphasis on investment funds. He has significant experience advising clients on the formation of all variations of investment funds and private equity fund downstream transactions. His wide-ranging corporate and commercial experience includes advising on mergers and acquisitions, joint venture arrangements, equity capital markets, debt capital markets, corporate governance and SPACs. He also has extensive experience in structured finance transactions and advising on fund finance, acquisition finance and general lending matters.

Finn Howie

Howie is a member of the firm’s corporate and finance practice. He specialises in mergers and acquisitions and banking and finance transactions, advising leading corporates, banks, financial institutions and private investment fund sponsors on Cayman Islands law aspects of asset-backed financings, structured financings, subscription credit facilities and leveraged buyout facilities. He has been named by Legal 500 as a rising star in the area of banking, finance and capital markets for the past three years.
