The man who drove his car head first into another vehicle in South Sound, killing the driver and injuring himself and three others, has now pleaded guilty to all charges against him.
In Grand Court on Friday, 15 Sept., Kesley Martinez Ebanks changed his plea from not guilty to guilty of causing grievous bodily harm.
This will be added to his plea of guilty of causing death by dangerous driving when he appears back in court for sentencing on 10 Nov. He was released on bail.
In March this year, Ebanks entered not guilty pleas to both charges in relation to the May 2021 incident that claimed the life of 32-year-old US nurse Kiarah Shikale Perkins.
He was then released on bail pending a trial date. However, on 18 Aug. he changed his plea to guilty for the first charge and the trial was called off.
The incident happened just after 1am on 23 May 2021, when two cars which were travelling in opposite directions on South Church Street collided near Palm Springs condos.
Perkins, who was driving a Honda Fit, was fatally injured in the crash and pronounced dead upon arrival at Cayman Islands Hospital.
Ebanks, who was driving a Changan CS75, and three other occupants of the vehicles were hospitalised.
