Following on from the Cayman National Cultural Foundation’s long-running musical comedy revue, ‘Rundown’, a new satirical show, ‘Wha Happening’, will debut at Harquail Theatre this Friday.

Natalie Urquhart, CEO at the foundation, said the CNCF had been approached by Matt Brown, the show’s writer, director and producer, with the concept for the new production, and had jumped at the opportunity to support the project.

“The focus of CNCF, and our recently expanded Grants for the Arts programme, is to champion talent like Matt and the cast of actors performing in the show, and offer them the support to bring their production to fruition,” she said, in a press release issued by CNCF.

‘Wha Happening’ is a fast-paced mix of stand-up, parodies and sketches on topical, modern Cayman life, according to the release. The show will include a range of Cayman-specific comedic sketches covering topics such as the George Town landfill, the selling of the islands, dating, traffic woes and CARIFTA athletes.

‘Wha Happening’ will bring together new and familiar faces, including Cayman theatre stalwarts Leroy Holness, Michael McLaughlin, Lesley-Ann Bernard, Gisselle Webb and Priscilla Pouchie.
