Auditions will be held in October for storytellers as Cayman’s popular international festival, Gimistory, gets set to mark its 24th year.
Nicole Durrant, programmes coordinator at organiser Cayman National Cultural Foundation, said the annual festival enables cultural exchange as it continues the oral tradition of storytelling.
“We are looking for all members of the Cayman community to join our cast of storytellers. Stories can be original, cultural, contemporary, fiction or non-fiction,” she told the Compass.
Durrant said performers can audition in person or by submitting a video.
“Stories can be shared verbally in its traditional format, through song, dance or poem,” she added.
Live auditions will be held at the Studio Theatre in the Harquail Cultural Centre on 3 and 10 Oct. from 6pm to 8pm.
The much-loved storytelling event, being held from 24 Nov. through 2 Dec., will be presented against the backdrop of local beaches and various outdoor venues across Grand Cayman and the Sister Islands. It will feature local and international storytellers.
To audition to perform at Gimistory, register through the CNCF website or visit the foundation’s Instagram page @caymanculture.
