The University of Northern Colorado defeated New Mexico State by 38 points at the Aggies Swimming and Diving Complex, on 14 Oct., with contributions from Caymanian swimmers Alison Jackson and Kyra Rabess.

Jackson, a senior with the UNC Bears helped her team win gold in the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:45.25. She went on to finish second in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 24.32.

With the first laps handled by Rabess and two other teammates, Jackson then swam the anchor leg to secure the victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay, finishing in 3:29.80.

For Rabess, a freshman at UNC, it was a continuation of her winning ways with her school, starting with claiming the Horsetooth Open Water Swim title last month.

The distance swimmer would add to that during Saturday’s meet, where she won the 1,000-yard freestyle, clocking 10:26.27, before earning her second win in the 500-yard freestyle race, in a time of 5:04.72.

“Our girls stepped up and swam a lot faster than we have in previous years at this time,” UNC head coach Lisa Ebeling said in a UNC press release. ”

We are coming off a heavy training week so it will be exciting to see how they do after we fine tune some details. It was great to watch our freshmen step up, race hard and win some big events for the team.”

UNC is scheduled to return to action in their first home meet of the season, on Saturday, 28 Oct., against Idaho.
