Steve Aoki, internationally renowned DJ and music producer, will be joining forces with members of the local music scene when he performs in Grand Cayman at the Cool Out festival, being held 2-4 Nov.
He will headline the Cool Out Waterfront show on Thursday, 2 Nov., taking place along the Seven Mile Beach Corridor, at a venue only “disclosed upon a ticket confirmation”, according to the Cool Out website. The A-list performer, who has more than 11 million followers, has included Grand Cayman as a stop on his world tour.
“We are thrilled that Steve Aoki will perform at Cool Out this year,” said a representative of the show in a press release.
“With a long track record of collaborations with both Caribbean and Korean artists, he was the perfect fit for the musical showcase.”
Performers will also include Grammy Award-winner Jason JG Gilbert; Nicholas George, known locally as Nick, the son of Barefoot Man; Nire Bird; Elyse Saunders, a rising Canadian country music star; and K-Pop idol AleXa, according to the press release.
“We understand that this eclectic mix of local and visiting talent is not what one would normally expect at an Aoki show, but the core of Cool Out 2023 is a conference and workshops where the leading industry experts come together to share ideas, network, and do business,” the release said, adding that the performances showcase local and overseas talent, “to foster collaborations and [business] opportunities for the performers”.
Themed ‘Where the Korean Wave meets the Caribbean’, Cool Out will include a conference on 2 Nov., which will open with introductory remarks by producer Lee Soo Man, the founder of the K-Pop industry. The conference is targeted towards the business, legal, accounting, fintech and finance side of the music industry.
Others scheduled to speak include Hyuk Shin, Korean mega-producer; Jangwon Lee, CEO of Beyond Music; Jangwoo Lee, academic and author of ‘K-Pop Innovation’; and Eshy Gazit, the music manager who launched the Korean supergroup BTS in North America.

Showcases of visual art by Open Canvas and Wide Awake as well as Taekwondo demonstrations by the Cayman Islands Taekwondo Federation will also take place.
