Police arrested a man on Sunday, one day after a female bicyclist was forced off the road by a vehicle and then robbed at knifepoint by the driver, the RCIPS said in a press release.

Just before 9:15pm, on Saturday, 20 Jan. police were dispatched to South Church Street where it was reported that a robbery had occurred.

Officers attended the location with emergency medical personnel, who assessed the victim who appeared to have minor injuries.

“It was said that a vehicle forced a woman riding a bicycle off the roadway causing her to fall, at which time the driver of the vehicle exited with a knife and stole the woman’s bag, containing a quantity of cash and other personal items,” police said in the release.

The perpetrator then went back to his car and drove off.

The next morning, one man was arrested on suspicion of committing this offence and others, police said. He remains in custody as the investigation progresses.

Police have asked anyone with information about the incident to call the George Town Police Station at 949-4222.
