Police are advising the public to expect traffic delays while travelling in the Lower Valley area on Wednesday, 14 Feb., during the annual Agriculture Show.

The popular show, which attracts thousands every year, is scheduled to begin at 7am, though the RCIPS says it anticipates that most of the delays will take place from mid-morning to early afternoon.

Police are encouraging members of the public to use the shuttle service which will be located at the Spotts Dock, Jayson Avenue, Savannah Seventh-day Adventist Church on Shamrock Road, and the Haig Bodden Sports Complex in Bodden Town.

To assist with traffic flow, there will be an extra lane added between Homestead Crescent and Daniel Drive, and between Agricola Drive and Will T Drive, from 6:30am to 8:30pm, for use by motorists attending the show.

Detours

A number of detours will be in place. These include:

  • Attendees travelling east (from George Town) will detour in the vicinity of Homestead Crescent (just past Hirst Road), and enter the Agricultural Grounds via Daniel Drive and Lottery Road.
  • Attendees travelling west (from the eastern districts) will detour just below Discovery Drive, and enter the Agricultural Grounds via Agricola Drive.
  • Motorists not attending the show or otherwise requiring access to Agricola Drive or other local roads, will travel along Shamrock Road as normal, and will not be permitted to turn onto Agricola Drive during these times.

There will be signage in place, and motorists are advised to follow all instructions given, police said.

They also advised motorists to allow extra time for travel in the area, especially during the morning hours.
