One man has been killed in a single-vehicle collision in Bodden Town in the early hours of Thursday morning, police have confirmed.
The man’s death is the second fatality in two days in the Cayman Islands and follows a fatal collision in Cayman Brac on Wednesday morning, which claimed the life of Mexican chef Dulce Rodriguez, 30.
Police have not released the identity of the victim in the Bodden Town crash, however they said the incident happened shortly before 2:30am on Thursday.
Officers and other emergency services responded to a report of a collision in the vicinity of the junction of Bodden Town Road and Anton Bodden Drive.
Initial investigations indicated that the vehicle was travelling west along Bodden Town Road, when it left the roadway and collided with a tree.
Police said the man sustained serious injuries and was transferred to the Cayman Islands Hospital by ambulance.
He subsequently succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by the attending doctor.
The scene of the Bodden Town crash has since been processed and the roadways are open to traffic.
Meanwhile, investigations are continuing into the Cayman Brac collision in which Dulce Rodriguez was killed.
Police expressed condolences to the family and friends of both victims.
