Six-time Grammy award-winning group the Black Eyed Peas will headline this year’s Taste of Cayman Food & Drink Festival.
The trio, made up of Will.i.am, Apl.de.ap, and Taboo, is noted for such chart-topping hits as ‘I Gotta Feeling’, ‘Boom Boom Pow’, ‘Where is the Love?’ and ‘Don’t Stop the Party’.
“It’s going to be a feast for both your ears and palate,” says Jay Ehrhart, executive director of the Cayman Islands Tourism Association, event organiser.
The one-night-only opening concert is a new addition to the festival, which takes place 12- 13 April at the Festival Green in Camana Bay.
The Black Eyed Peas take the stage 12 April, with gates opening at 7pm. The festival then switches into high gear 13 April, with more than 25 food and drink vendors, cooking demonstrations, mixology contests and food competitions.
Its ‘All Things Cayman’ section will highlight local musicians, artisans, crafts and cultural presentations. There’s also a kids’ zone, photo booth and fireworks. Taste of Cayman began 36 years ago with a small group of restaurants meeting in a field for a chilli cook-off. Today, it attracts more than 5,000 attendees, serving more than 18,000 portions of food.
