The Cayman Latin Dance Festival will be offering a slate of events showcasing local and international talent in Latin music and dance, to be held 5-7 April.
Festival organisers have announced a weekend of workshops, performances, and dance, taking place at various venues across Cayman.
“We had over 300 people engaging with the [inaugural festival] event in 2022 and in the second iteration of the festival, we’re excited to invite international artists to elevate the level of instruction and performances people can participate in,” Imani Abdul-Jabbar, co-founder of the festival, told the Compass.
“We are thrilled to return this year with a bigger and better event and continue establishing the Cayman Islands as the premier Caribbean destination for Latin dance,” she added. “It’s a unique tourism product with so much untapped growth potential.
“This year we have event attendees flying in from our Caribbean neighbour Jamaica, as well as the USA, who will experience a slice of paradise while dancing at multiple venues.”

The festival will kick off with a party on Friday, 5 April, at the George Town Yacht Club, from 9pm-1am. This will be followed by a day of workshops, from 9am to 6pm, on Saturday at the Grand Cayman Marriott Resort, which will be taught by renowned international dance instructors Anastasia Nikolaeva and Jovanny Fuentes, and Quiana Erb and Kike Lopez, as well as local dance teachers.
The festival will include a ‘Gala Latina’ at the Marriott, from 8pm-midnight, with live music and a Latin dance showcase.
The curtain closes on Sunday, 7 April, with a boat party from the Cayman Islands Yacht Club from 2pm-6pm, where attendees will “sail at sea to the tunes of salsa, bachata, reggaeton and more”, Imani said.
