Two people are under arrest after police recovered a firearm, ammunition and illegal drugs from a residence off North West Point Road in West Bay.
The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service searched the residence Thursday morning, 30 May, under the Firearms Act.
“During the search, officers recovered a bag containing suspected cocaine and a smaller bag containing ganja,” RCIPS reported.
“The officers also recovered a backpack which contained a firearm and three firearm magazines: a standard magazine, an extended magazine, and a drum-style magazine, two of which contained ammunition.”
The discoveries resulted in the arrest of a 56-year-old man of West Bay and a 47-year-old woman of George Town on suspicion of possession of ganja, possession of cocaine with intent to supply, possession of an unlicensed firearm, and possession of an unlicensed firearm (ammunition).
Both remain in custody as RCIPS continues to investigate.
