Man stabbed multiple times in bar incident

One man was stabbed and another arrested following a violent incident at a liquor licensed premises in the vicinity of Public Beach on West Bay Road on Thursday night.

A second man is being sought in relation to the incident, a police statement said on Friday.

A 51-year-old man of West Bay, one of the suspects in the incident, was arrested on suspicion of wounding, the statement said, adding “other persons of interest are being sought by police”.

The injured man received multiple stab wounds and was transported to George Town Hospital in a private vehicle before officers arrived.

The statement said that shortly after 9pm, police responded to a report of a wounding in the vicinity of a premises near Public Beach, on West Bay Road.

Neither the victim nor the person who reported the incident were at the scene, the statement said.

A police cordon was put in place while officers carried out their investigations and was cleared just before midnight.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
