Catwalk for Cancer is an annual fashion show put on by the Cayman Islands Cancer Society featuring spring clothing trends, resort wear and swimwear.

“This inspiring show brings together the community to support a vital cause: raising funds to provide financial aid for cancer patients in the Cayman Islands.” says Rebekah Brooks of Health City.

COMPASSION AND SUPPORT

Along with fundraising, another goal of the show is to foster compassion and support for those affected by cancer.

“The cause is important to us all,” says Catherine Dawson James, owner of the boutique clothing stores.

“Most of our staff have been affected indirectly by this horrible disease. We feel as a large group of stores, we should give back to the community.”

The event features men’s, women’s and children’s fashion, focusing on resort-style wear. Some of the models are cancer patients or survivors, as well as customers of the boutiques.

“We love that some of our models are doing it to give back to the cause,” says Catherine. “Others have found their confidence and just want to prove to themselves they can walk the walk. We try to celebrate different body types and also just embrace strong, confident women.”

Last year’s sold-out show raised a record $30,000 for the Cancer Society. “We love that we can give back to such a great cause,” says Catherine.
