A cruise ship tourism pressure group is to hold a special session next week in a bid to dispel what it said were “common myths and misinformation” about the industry.
Ellio Solomon, of the Association for Cruise Tourism, said, “Thousands of Cayman Islands residents depend on income from the cruise industry to support their families
“It’s important that all citizens understand the industry’s impact on our economy and the current threats it faces.
“These events offer an opportunity for individuals to learn the facts, ask questions, and connect with others keen to improve the Cayman Islands’ standing within this vital sector of our economy.”
The meeting will be held on Tuesday, 14th Jan in West Bay.
ACT was set up to campaign for a referendum on the construction of cruise ship piers.
It said it believed proper berthing facilities were vital to the continued development of the country’s tourist industry.
ACT, which held a similar meeting last month, said more events would be scheduled over the next few months.
Next week’s event will be held between from 6:15pm 9:15pm at the John Cumber Primary School Hall.
