Michael C. Ferrier releases latest Cayman tale, ‘Going Going Gold’

Local author Michael C. Ferrier has penned his latest novel, ‘Going Going Gold’, to thrill Cayman readers with suspense and intrigue.

The novel tells the gripping tale of a Venezuelan military aircraft that makes a surprise landing at the George Town airport, declaring a mayday. Within 18 minutes, thousands of gold bars are stolen from a vault, setting the stage for a high-stakes international heist. The British government, discovering Russia’s involvement, hesitates to intervene, but a group of independent warriors takes matters into their own hands with unexpected results.

“Almost nothing in this novel turns out the way you think it should, and that will keep you guessing,” Ferrier told the Cayman Compass.

Ferrier, a retired advertising professional, has made his home in the Cayman Islands after relocating from Monte Carlo. He has lived in 15 countries and speaks five languages.

Over the years, he has written 10 novels — five on the Cayman Islands, capturing thrilling plots and the spirit of the islands. Ferrier’s latest book joins a collection of his Cayman-based novels, including ‘Caymankind’, ‘Cold Winds Over Cayman’, ‘Lights Out in Cayman’, and ‘Murder on Seven Mile Beach’. The rest of his books take place in Brazil, Monaco, Russia, Rwanda and the USA.

“The 110-page novel is for readers who enjoy thrillers and action-filled novels as light reading,” Ferrier said.

“Many readers will recognise many favourite characters making repeat appearances.”

When it comes to writing, Ferrier said, it is a “prime hobby” and it’s all about highlighting “where I live and amuse residents and tourists”.

A book launch will be held on 27 Feb. at 5pm at the George Town Library. ‘Going Going Gold’ is now available on island at Book Nook, Next Chapter and More Than Words.
