
Two earthquakes have been recorded in the sea between the Cayman Islands and Honduras in the past 24 hours, with the second reported at 3:08pm Monday afternoon.
Monday’s 5.4 magnitude quake was recorded as being about 239 kilometres (147.5 miles) southwest of Grand Cayman, at a depth of 10km (6.2 miles), according to the US Geological Survey, the agency that monitors earthquakes.
Hazard Management Cayman Islands says it is monitoring the situation “closely”.
No tsunami warning has been issued.
The other tremor, reported at 7:30pm Sunday, was a 4.9 magnitude earthquake, also recorded at a depth of 10km, about 242km from Grand Cayman.

There have been no reports of the quakes being felt in Cayman.
