Four people were injured in two separate collisions that happened within hours of each other overnight on Friday. Drivers in both instances were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

In the first crash, police, fire and the ambulance services were called to a report of a head-on collision at the intersection of Stadium Drive and Birch Tree Hill Road in West Bay shortly after 11:30pm on Friday.

Police said both vehicles received major damage and all three individuals in the cars were taken to the hospital by ambulance to receive treatment.

The roadway was temporarily closed while officers carried out investigations.

The driver of one of the vehicles, a 27-year-old man of West Bay, was released from hospital and subsequently arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Police said a second occupant of the vehicle received serious but non-life threatening injuries and remained in hospital on Saturday. The driver of the other vehicle was released from the hospital.

A few hours later, around 1:50am on Saturday, police and other emergency services responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision on West Bay Road, near Snooze Lane.

On arriving at the scene, officers found a man, who had been a passenger in the car, lying on the road with head injuries. He was transported to hospital to receive treatment.

A portion of the roadway was blocked while officers carried out investigations.

The driver of the vehicle, a 21-year-old man of George Town, was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

The RCIPS Traffic and Road Policing Management Unit are investigating both incidents and request that anyone that witnessed them or may have information about either of them to call 649-6254 or 911.
