Missing 8-year-old boy Elijah Downs has been located and “appears to be in good health”, police said in a 10:30pm statement.
Police had requested public assistance in the search for the boy, described as “a vulnerable member of the community”.
Elijah had gone missing after leaving his home in Newlands around 3:40pm on Wednesday, 2 April, police said.
“Elijah was last seen wearing a dark grey shirt, dark blue shorts and black shoes. He is of solid build with short dark hair, and of light brown complexion,” police had said in a press release, advising the public to call 911 if he was spotted.
A Royal Cayman Islands Police Service helicopter had been deployed in the search for Elijah. Members of the community were thanked for their efforts to locate the boy.
