The Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce welcomed the return of American Airlines’ evening service between Miami and Grand Cayman, set to launch 6 October 2025 through 1 November 2025. The reinstatement of this once-popular route results from coordinated advocacy by the Chamber, the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism (CIDOT), and the Cayman Islands Tourism Association (CITA).

The trial route will see a daily flight arriving at Owen Roberts International Airport at 7:05 p.m. and departing the next morning at 8:30 a.m., restoring a vital connection that facilitates same-day links through Miami and provides added travel flexibility for residents and visitors alike.

“We’re grateful to American Airlines for listening and responding to the unified appeal from the Chamber, CIDOT, and CITA,” said Chamber President Omari Corbin. “This trial run is a step in the right direction. We are optimistic it will prove successful and lead to not only a permanent reinstatement of this flight but the addition of more routes to support the airlift our tourism and business sectors so urgently need.”

The route reintroduction follows a strategic push by Cayman stakeholders, who met with American Airlines Vice President of International Operations Jose Freig during the CAPA Airline Leader Summit—Americas and GAD Americas Summit, which were hosted in Grand Cayman in April. The meeting highlighted Cayman’s tourism growth, room stock expansion, and increased demand for U.S. connectivity.

This coordinated effort and the resulting trial flight underscore the importance of strong partnerships between public and private tourism entities and major carriers.
