The Cayman Islands Under-14 Girls National Team departed on 12 Aug. for Trinidad and Tobago to compete in the 2025 Caribbean Football Union Under-14 Challenge Series.

In the tournament, which runs from 15-24 Aug., Cayman has been placed in Tier II, Group C, alongside Anguilla, Guyana, Antigua and Barbuda, and Turks and Caicos Islands.

The team is set to open its campaign on Friday, 15 Aug., against Turks and Caicos at 3pm (Cayman time).

The group stage schedule continues with matches against Anguilla on Sunday, Antigua and Barbuda on Monday, and Guyana on Tuesday, with all three matches starting at 1pm.

“This is an incredible opportunity for our players to experience international competition and measure themselves against quality opposition,” said head coach Alex Gonzalez in a Cayman Islands Football Association press release.

“We’ve had a strong preparation phase, and now it’s about performing, learning and representing the Cayman Islands with pride,” Gonzalez added.

The team’s preparation included a training tour in the Dominican Republic last month, where they faced off against national and club-level opponents.

The Challenge Series features 23 member associations, with Cayman competing in Tier II, which consists of three groups of five teams.

The winners of each group, along with the best second-place team, will advance to the semi-finals, with the ultimate goal of competing for the Tier II title.

The tournament also serves as a development opportunity for regional match officials.

Kedeen Foster and Sophie Roberts, two Cayman-based officials, will be referees in the tournament, with Roberts making her international refereeing debut.

The full roster for the Cayman Islands under-14 girls team includes Olivia Anderson, Ava Lennon, Leila Turrell, Letticia Reis, Mia Small, Olivia Thomas, Ginny Harrison, Yasmin Elliot, Ari Eden, Matilda Lomas, Abigail Proud, Clara Walker, Lara Madden, Sandy Sanchez, Elena Kish, Allie Hernandez, Mickay Lyons and Zyniack Missik.
