Cayman’s central police station is on the move, the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service has announced.

Officers on the George Town beat will move to the Flow building – One Technology Square – on Eastern Avenue from their present temporary home at the old JN Building on Elgin Avenue from Monday, 13 April.

Commissioner of Police Kurt Walton said, “This move marks a long overdue transition to a proper long-term location for the George Town police station.

“The new location has been fully retrofitted to meet the needs of the units that will be stationed there and provides easier access and parking for members of the public who require our services.

“This will allow us to more effectively deliver on our mission and vision of working with our communities and for our communities to keep the Cayman Islands safe.”

Officers have been temporarily stationed at the old JN Building located at 29 Elgin Avenue since November 2023.

The Elgin Avenue station, almost next door to the old George Town police station building, which has been condemned, will remain operational until 7am on 13 April.

The RCIPS said all services, including walk-in reports and electronic monitoring check-ins, will be carried out from the new location after that.

Community police, scenes of crime officers, major events and victim care units will also be transferred to the new site.

Visitors to the new station should use the Flow building’s main entrance facing Eastern Avenue, which is equipped with a ramp.

Public parking is available in the front car park, but the RCIPS has advised that visitors should not use parking spaces marked for police use only, to ensure emergency response is not compromised.

  1. It would be interesting to find out how much Govt spends on leasing offices as opposed to purchasing properties for Govt entities. The Govt Admin Building which is very capacious was built to cut down on renting accomodation, yet buildings all over George Town have been acquired and every year the number increases.
