It doesn’t take much to help some of the homeless dogs and cats at the Humane Society.
One of the CIHS’s annual fundraisers, the Kickball Tournament, is coming up on Saturday, 4 February.
“The Kickball Tournament is such an important fixture in Cayman since it combines participants’ love for animals and sports. For the CIHS, it has become an important source of much needed revenue for the shelter and provides an opportunity to promote awareness of CIHS developments, challenges and future goals. For those playing, it is simply a great day out and a chance to help this much needed charitable organisation,” says former organiser Patrick Bourque.
Although the teams are all signed up at this stage, spectators and encouraged to go along to Field of Dreams for a 10 am start. If you are not participating, just the purchase of a drink or snack will go toward keeping some of our furry friends housed and fed. Jacques Scott and Caybrew will be providing refreshments while XQ’s is donating pizzas for both participants and spectators.
“We are desperately in need of funds this year; 2011 was a really bad year for us. Fundraisers didn’t raise as much as in previous years and donations across the board are down,” says Lesley Walker, of the Humane Society.
If you are not able to either play or spectate, cash donations or donations of prizes for future fundraisers are always welcome. The biggest fundraiser of the year, Furball, is coming up on 23 March, at the Marriott Beach Resort.
Anyone with ideas for new and different means of raising funds is encouraged to contact the Humane Society by emailing [email protected] or [email protected]
