Blue by Eric Ripert named one of the world’s top restaurants

The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman is celebrating after learning that Blue by Eric Ripert was named one of the 101 Best Hotel Restaurants Around the World by The Daily Meal Travel Channel.

The website is respected in the industry and by chefs and has more than five million unique monthly users, which made it particularly exciting, remarked Marc Langevin, general manager of the Cayman resort.

“We are honoured that Blue by Eric Ripert was recognised as one of the 101 Best Hotel Restaurants Around the World by The Daily Meal. Of course, Eric Ripert’s flagship Le Bernardin is consistently recognised as one of New York’s finest restaurants with more than 20 years of four star New York Times reviews and top rankings from organisations ranging from Michelin to Zagat.

“We are proud that his seafood restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, sometimes called ‘Le Bernardin at the beach’ by our guests, has received its own share of acclaim and lived up to its pedigree,” Mr. Langevin said.

One of a kind

He said that accolades such as the one received by the Daily Meal reaffirmed that Mr. Ripert and the hotel were “perfectly matched partners for creating one of a kind experiences in the luxury market”. When The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman was first conceived, he said, the idea was to “offer world class experiences to its guests that were designed by the masters in every field within the beautiful natural landscape of the Cayman Islands”.

These include the Greg Norman-designed golf course, the Couseau-trained naturalists in the Ambassadors of the Environment and of course the restaurant, which has its doors temporarily closed and will re-open in high season in mid-December. Mr. Langevin reiterated that the restaurant welcomes locals as well as hotel visitors.

“Since its opening, Blue has stayed true to Eric’s philosophy of using only the freshest seafood with the fish as the star of the plate. Eric and Chef de Cuisine Luis Lujan have maintained strong relationships with Caymanian fisherman to ensure the quality standards.

“We have also worked with Eric to offer some of his popular, even iconic, dishes from New York on the Blue tasting menus. This is especially popular with our loyal local guests who appreciate the opportunity experience to Eric Ripert classics using seafood from other parts of the world right here in Cayman,” he said.
