Caribbean Utilities Company said transmission problems were to blame for a brief series of power outages Tuesday morning in Grand Cayman, according to a company spokeswoman.
Pat Bynoe-Clarke, CUC’s corporate communications manager, said the utility company’s commercial and residential customers in the Bodden Town and Prospect areas were without power for a little more than one hour. She said power was knocked out at 9.04am and the company reported it was completely restored at 10.19am.
“The outage,” Ms Bynoe-Clarke said, “was the result of a fault in the transmission line. The line was inspected and it was determined that it could be re-energised safely and that power could be restored to the Prospect and Bodden Town substations.”
“We do not anticipate any other problems, though,” she said.
