Neuert has created a smash

The recent Corporate Team Tennis League fall season at the Ritz-Carlton courts was another huge success for director of tennis Thomas Neuert and his coaches.

KPMG beat Walkers 3-0 in the A-League final and Mourant Ozannes defeated Harmonic 2-1 in the B-League final.

The teams that finished below KPMG and Walkers in the A-League, in ascending order, were EFG Bank, Court Warriors, Sunday Tennis Club, HSBC, Deloitte, The Ritz-Carlton 1 and UBS.

KPMG won all eight matches and Walkers were 6-2.

In the less competitive B-League, below Mourant Ozannes and Harmonic were Maples, Ogier, Dart, Ernst & Young, PWC, Wednesday Tennis Club and The Ritz-Carlton 2.

Mourant Ozannes finished 7-1 and Harmonic 6-2 in the social league.

The top two teams of the leagues qualified for the finals for the Magnum Cup with The Magnum Cup Players’ Party squeezed in the middle of the two finals nights.

Neuert has quickly built this popular mid-week competition up from only a handful of teams since creating it a couple of years ago.

He said, “We all had fun at the players’ party which was also a huge success with over 150 players and guests at the newly opened Magnum Jewelers store next to Breezes restaurant in George Town.

“The party was sponsored by Magnum Jewelers and The Courts Tennis Centre by Nick Bollettieri at The Ritz-Carlton. A raffle was held where the top three prizes were a Magnum Jewelers women’s bracelet and a men’s watch as well as a tennis racket amongst other prizes.”

The Corporate Team Tennis League spring season starts on Feb. 4. Neuert is anticipating 18 teams and over 215 players to participate again.
