A mom-and-pop liquor store in West Bay was robbed around closing time Friday, according to the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service.
No arrests were immediately reported in connection with the 9:50 p.m. heist at Joe Ena’s Liquor Store. Police initially said that one man armed with a gun held up the cashier on duty and got away with an unknown sum.
The man, described as being of medium height, dressed all in black wearing a mask ran off on foot following the robbery. No shots were fired and no one was hurt.
RCIPS officers were also looking for a second suspect who remained outside the store while the robbery was going on, possibly as a lookout. Joe Ena’s was robbed in January 2011 by an armed suspect who fired a shot into the ceiling of the store during the holdup.
